To me it makes sense that the use of air conditioning to keep cool in an automobile would waste water and Freon. How does gasoline interact with Auto Air Air Conditioning?
It is said that it makes your cars engine work harder. While that might be true other studies have shown that it isn’t a significant amount.

These are unusual times and we need everyone. Our great nation
is coming together. I’m finding so many ways to help; money,
food, clothes. It’s going to affect all of us. So I want to
share some great tips on saving gas.
1. Car pool, take the bus, bike, walk. Car pools reduce travel
monotony and gas expense - all riders chip in to help you buy.
Conversation helps to keep the driver alert. Pooling also
reduces traffic congestion, gives the driver easier
maneuverability and greater “steady speed” economy. For best
results, distribute passenger weight evenly throughout car.
2. Avoid filling gas tank to top. Overfilling results in
sloshing over and out of tank. Never fill gas tank past the
first “click” of fuel nozzle, if nozzle is automatic.
3. Slow down and drive steady. Speeding up wastes fuel. Also
avoid tailgating - the driver in front of you is unpredictable.
Not only is it unsafe, but if affects your economy, if he slows
down unexpectedly.
4. Inflate all tires to maximum limit. Each tire should be
periodically spun, balanced and checked for out-of-round. When
shopping for new tires, get large diameter tires for rear
wheels. Radial designs are the recognized fuel-savers;check
manufacturer’s specifications for maximum tire pressures.
5. Avoid rough roads when possible. Because dirt or gravel rob
you of up to 30% of your gas mileage.
6. Buy gasoline at the coolest time of day. Early morning or
late evening is best. During these times gasoline is densest.
Keep in mind - gas pumps measure volumes of gasoline, not
densities of fuel concentration. You are charged according to
“volume of measurement”.
7. Don’t use your Air Conditioning. Auto air conditioners can
reduce fuel economy by 10% to 20%. Heater fan, power windows and
seats increase engine load; the more load on your engine, the
less miles per gallon.
8. Plan ahead. Combine your errands in the same area.
9. Keep your car tuned. Regular tune-ups ensure best economy;
check owner’s manual for recommended maintenance intervals.
Special attention should be given to maintaining clean air
filters… diminished air flow increases gas waste.

Katrina.

I have a 1997 chevrolet S-10 Blazer @ 4.3 V-6 engine. I lifted the hood after a test drive, on a non high humidity day, and noticed the accumulator had a lot of condensation on it, it was actually dripping down the sides of the accumulator. I had just changed the compressor , vacuumed the system and added refrigerant. Where did I go wrong? Thanks
You didn’t go wrong. In fact, it sounds like you did a competent a/c overhaul. Condensation and excessive dripping even after parking the truck is normal-especially in hot climates.

The New York International Auto Show (NYIAS) is just around the corner and so is the IAG Research Awards. The awarding body gives distinction to automobile manufacturers that have created an ad campaign that effectively reaches their target audience.
The winners in the five categories will be announced at the opening press breakfast at the Javits Center in New York City where the countryâs largest motor show will be held. The finalists for the five categories have already been announced and two Volkswagen ad campaigns for their cars were announced as finalists for the award.
The Volkswagen Jettaâs âDanceâ ad campaign and the Volkswagen Passatâs âSafe Happensâ ad are finalists for the âMost Effective Overall Adâ category. Aside from that, the Passat wagon is also a finalist for the âMost Effective Established Nameplate Launch Campaignâ category. The finalists were chosen on the basis of their effectiveness in reaching their target viewers.
Creativity and strategic media placement are some of the criterion set by IAG Research in choosing the finalists and, finally, the winners in the five categories came into being. The determination of the winner is also based on the response of more than 1.5 million viewers who has been tapped by IAG Research to respond to a survey that they conducted.
Kurt Schneider, the General Manager of Creative Content for Volkswagen of America Inc., has this to say about their ad campaignsâ being finalists for the awards: âWe are excited about being recognized by IAG. This research confirms the true effectiveness of these messages in connecting with consumers and increasing consideration for the brand.â
The VW Jetta, the center of the âDanceâ ad campaign, is the top selling vehicle for Volkswagen in the U.S. market. Its strong selling point is the number of comfort and convenience features it has. The Jetta is equipped with adaptive cruise control as well as traction control allowing drivers to have complete control of the vehicle. It has a CD player and Air Conditioning for the comfort of the vehicleâs occupants.
As far as the ride is concerned, the Jetta is one of the best in its class, thanks to its four-wheel independent suspension system. Volkswagen gives the Jettaâs MSRP starting at $16,490 for the base model.
The VW Passat sedan on the other hand focuses on it safety features although it also offers good comfort and convenience features like the Jetta. Its safety features includes a full lineup of six airbags which covers the entire interior area of the vehicle. This vehicle can adequately protect its occupants in instances where highly efficient EBC greenstuff brake pads are not enough to avoid accidents.
Aside from being comfortable and safe, the VW Passat also offers good fuel efficiency, thanks to its engine. Its 2.0T model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder featuring direct-injection delivery technology.

Belgard Volkswagen has recently announced the pricing for the new Touran MVP and has also begun taking orders for delivery which will begin in late March. The prices will start at â¬27,625 for the entry level S 1.6 liter 102 BHP and rise to â¬45,715 for the range-topping Highline 2.0 liter TDI DSG 170 BHP with DSG gearbox. According to Belgard Volkswagen Brand Manager, Geraldine Browne, âOver 85% of Touran buyers will go for a diesel engine, with the best-selling model expected to be the Conceptline 1.9 liter TDI 105 BHP, priced at â¬30,950.â
Browne further stated that a limited number of Touran models are available for immediate delivery. And as part of the comprehensive revision that Volkswagen is implementing it is expected for its MPV to gain new styling, engine and technology while maintaining the integrity of the successful seven-seater Touran.
The new Touran will also be given a fresh facelift using top-of-the-line auto parts that are paralleled in quality with parts like the Volkswagen GTI parts. Touran was given revised lights likened to those found on the Eos Coupe Cabriolet. A new bumper and grille section will also be added on the vehicle. The lights and bumper on the rear were also modified and updated to further give the Touran with a modern look. The exterior is not the only part enhanced the interior was also given a new trim and materials including a stainless steel finish to the dials and upgraded standard equipment .
The Touran is famous for its safety features and the new model takes it a step further with its standard front, side and head airbags as well as ABS and ESP short for Electronic Stabilization Programme that comes with a counter-steering feature that can shorten the stopping distance by up to 10%.
Another innovative technology added to the new Touran is the ParkAssist which makes use of a series of sensors mounted on the front, rear and side of the Touran to help the driver in obtaining the ideal maneuvering path into a parallel space either to the right or left of the vehicle. How? Through the audible warnings and visual displays in the system gather steering inputs which the driver carried out by simply controlling the throttle and brake inputs. The whole operation takes less than 15 seconds. However, this feature is offered as an additional option only.
The model lineup still includes the Conceptline, Highline and Trendline. All of these models offer a host of items such as 16-inch alloy wheels, CD player, Air Conditioning, remote control central locking and cruise control. The Trendline has an additional feature like its 8 speaker stereo, front centre armrest, steel finish dash inserts and body-coloured trims as standard. The Highline for its part gains Xenon head lights, 17 inch alloy wheeled, park distance control chrome roof rails, front fog lights and leather steering wheel.
A new engine lineup- two for petrol and two for diesel are also to be offered:
1.6-litre 102 BHP
1.4-litre TSI 140 BHP with optional DSG gearbox
1.9-litre TDI 105 BHP
2.0-litre TDI 140 BHP with optional DSG
2.0-litre TDI 170 BHP with optional DSG
The new Touran is now available for test drive at Belgard Volkswagen. Interested buyers may try to contact Geraldine Browne or any of the team at 4049999.

If you are planning to do any traveling, either business or personal, you’ll likely want to rent a car upon arrival at your destination. Most airports have car rental agencies onsite for your convenience. These tips on how to rent a car will help you get the best deal.
The major international car rental agencies have offices throughout North America and often around the world. There is no such thing as the best company in this industry. It really does pay to shop around. Rates will depend on the type of vehicle, the time period, and things like agency specials. You can easily compare prices online and you can reserve your car online too.
Almost all rental cars have automatic transmission, radio, and Air Conditioning. Even if you request a manual transmission, chances are it won’t be available upon arrival. If you are traveling with children that will require car restraint seats, make sure to request them when you book your car.
If you are renting a car in the US, you usually do not need an international driver’s license. Your license from your home country should be adequate. That said, an international license can be helpful in proving to the agency that you have a valid license especially if they aren’t familiar with the licenses from your country.
Rental companies have different rules about who they will rent to. Some will not rent to anyone under the age of 25 while others won’t rent to anyone over the age of 70. Other rent to drivers under 25 but charge a premium. Check with the agencies for restrictions before you book.
The car rental business is extremely competitive so prices change frequently. Some companies offer regular advertised deals; others run random special promotions. If business is slow you are likely to be able to get a better rate than if you are trying to rent during peak seasons. No one agency has the monopoly on best prices. It just depends, so do your homework and don’t be afraid to try to barter a better price!
Sometimes if you booked through a travel agent, you might get a better price on your rental car. Some packages even include the rental fees. Compare these offers to see which is best.
The car rental insurance is where many agencies really soak you. The collision damage waiver and theft insurance they attempt to sell you is priced ridiculously high. But you also cannot risk driving without it. Some auto insurance companies have a rider that covers you and some credit cards also provide you with free coverage. See what you can do to avoid purchasing the rental agency’s insurance because it can almost double the price of your rental.
Now that you know how to rent a car and get the best deal, you’ll have a few extra dollars in your pocket to start planning that next vacation.
