My air conditioning has been running for hours, is that normal?

For the first time this winter, I started using the a.c. But it’s been running for about 3 hours or so. Is that normal since it was super cold in our home? If it doesn’t stop, how do I make it auto. There’s no switch to tell it to be on auto or not. Should I turn it off for the night and turn it back on in the morning? 10 points to the best answer, thanks!

Yes but make sure that the Temperature is rising in the House

My central air conditioning unit has stopped working. The AC UNIT outside works (spinning) but doesn’t cool!

Please help! The AC fan blower outside spins perfectly, but the house doesn’t cool on COOL MODE. Turning on the FAN works, but barely blows any cool air inside the house (NON AC, just FAN on ON not AUTO.)
Ohh.. and its only 1 year old !!

Indoor cooling coil may be froze up .If you see ice on the lines anywhere that’s whats happening.
May be due to plugged filter. If so let it thaw out completely.
If not the filter then call a repair co. to check out it may have a refrigerant leak.

I added freon and ac dosen’t blow cold air?

I followed instructions and just blows hot air. for 1991 toyota added "Auto Air Air Conditioning REFRIGERANT 134a with seal leak"

the a/c system needs to be recharged, if you did that it should have blown cold air at least for a while. If you needed refidgerant then you have a leak for sure, best thing is to take it to the shop and have them recharge your system and add in DYE so they can see where your leak is.

do it yourself auto repair air condition?

depends on what is wrong with it

My Air Conditioning system is producing a smoke smell, what needs to be done?

Hi, okay when I turn the AC unit on auto warm a smoke smell appears to be coming from the vents. Do you think I should continue to leave on the unit or shut it down before the unit catches on fire?

What you are doing is burning away dust on the heating coils because you haven’t used the heat in many months. It will continue to get better the more you use it.

Top Gas Saving Myths

We know that you want to go saving on your gas making it stretch even farther on the mileage and there are a lot of tips on how to do this but beware not all tips are good advice. The price of gas is hitting record level and the auto manufacturers are trying to beat their competitor in sales by offering gas saving tips. The tips may or may not be sound but here are a few tips to become aware of and not take seriously.

•Only put gas in your vehicle in the morning. This theory comes from the idea that colder fuel is denser so a gallon of cold gas has more molecules than a gallon of warm gas. When the molecules expand then you have actually more gas for the buck. This is not effective because the warmth of the gas coming from the pump remains the same no matter what time of day you put gas in your vehicle. Pumps are regulated to remain the same in temperature so there is no need to go out in the morning to fill your tank. You get the same results anytime of the day or night.

•Keeps a clean air filter changing it often? This theory comes from the idea that a clean air filter keeps down the usage of gas. In modern vehicles this does not apply because modern engines have computer sensors that automatically adjust the fuel air mixture. It is good for the maintenance of your vehicle to have a clean air filter but it does not help with your fuel economy.

•Air Conditioning uses more fuel. This is an age old wager to use the A/C or not to use the A/C. In the more modern vehicles the air conditioners are much more efficient. You will normally lose about a gallon of gas per mile when driving around town. When you are on the highway you lose a lot more gas if you drive with the windows down. The aerodynamics increases the drag on the vehicle burning up a lot more gas. When you are highway driving you need to use the air-conditioning which is to your advantage fuel wise.

•Premium Fuel is a necessity for modern vehicles. This is not necessarily so because many of the modern vehicles perform just as well on regular fuel as they would on premium. The high cost of fuel causes the manufacturers to advocate the use of premium gas to help with the sales.

Many of these tips are meant to be helpful and in some cases maybe if you are driving an older vehicle but it is up to the driver to find out what type of vehicle he has and what is good for his car. You know if your vehicle has a computer system etc. just by reading your owner’s manual. It is very advisable for you to check the manual before making decisions. Remember that just because you hear it’s a myth doesn’t necessarily mean it’s true.

auto air condition?

i went to wal mart got a can of air cond 134something but air worked little while but now freeon is gone leaked near com pressor were the compressor turns spins kick on and off on ford explore 4×4 4.0 motor 1997 can you tell me if i need compressor or what to do cans are expensive 20.oo a day a drive

this is why A/C needs to be checked by A/C people, sorry but you blew out your compressor seal and the propor way to repair it now will exceed around 400 dollars. a really good A/C guy will explain that when the compressor blows out it lets moisture into the system as well and contaminates the system, the dryer should be replaced, the expansion valve, the compressor and all the connection seals, then they need to do a system presure test to insure there are no further leaks. the largest of the hoses on the explorer tended to leak from inside the hose kind of like a soaker hose for a garden but not as fast. the problem with purchasing cans of freon and just adding them is the system was designed for just over 1 lb of freon as i recalled and you probably either had freon still in it or it had built up internal presure and needed to be Vacuumed down and recharged with the exact ammont called for.

Question about air conditioning + auto exhaust and diesel fumes in traffic, help?

To get to work, I have to drive through a heavy traffic area, that is densely populated with eighteen wheelers that constantly spew copious and profuse amounts of diesel exhaust into the air. Hoping to avoid inhaling such fumes and nanoparticles (the kind that lodge into your brain forever after inhalation), I keep my windows rolled down and set my A/C to recirculate. I realize that the cab of my truck is not hermetically sealed, however, since when I switch back to A/C it causes my ears to pop as though in an airplane, is this an indication that no outside air penetrating into the interior of my vehicle?

The air in your car has to come from somewhere, and most likely it comes from outside. Each car/truck comes with a cabin air filter, now these air filters can range in from what they block. But they do create a hepa type filter for cars/trucks. I would suggest you contact a local dealer for the model car/truck you have and ask if they sell a hepa cabin air filter.

But on that note, diesel engines produce less carbon monoxide then gasoline. Diesel produces about .4% where as a gasoline engine can produce up to 12%. And carbon monoxide is the primary chemical that can harm you. So your actually better off to let outside air in versus recycling the same air over and over again. Range Rover Unveils Brand New Twin-turbo V8

The 4×4 world is said to be dominated by Land Rover. With its off-road performance and the reputation for reliability, Rover is expected to stress the off-road auto industry. Aside from the off-road prowess, fabulous aura, and opulent amenities, Range Rover also boasts its all-new twin-turbo V8 diesel engine.

Enthusiasts are saying that they like Range Rover’s unrivaled image, domineering off-road ability, luxurious cabin, and its brand new engine. Range Rover’s new engine is Ford’s new 3.6 L AJD-V8. Said engine can generate up to 272 horsepower and 184 lb ft torque, far better than its previous engine. EPA has given the Range Rover a gas mileage rating of 13/18 mpg in city/highway. Other adaptations and enhancements of the latest model include enhanced Range Rover parts and accessories.

The interior of the new model is made more elegant and sophisticated. Rover’s pool of designers incorporated an efficient, pollen-filtered Air Conditioning to detach occupants from surrounding odors. Sound deadening technology and innovations such as active engine mounts are also integrated to the vehicle to make it quieter than its older versions. Supercharged Rovers will use electronic rear differential. Further, optional cooled front seats and extra loading capabilities were also considered by the automaker to come up with said high-performance vehicle.

2007 model is also equipped with better Range Rover brakes and suspension. A stiffer suspension is designed to cope with the extra performance of the vehicle. Moreover, it is also fitted to the petrol V8 model. Said vehicle also uses Rover’s Terrain Response system from the Discovery 3. The latter is responsible for making the bulky and rugged exterior of the vehicle intact. The system allows the driver to control everything from throttle response to ride height. This can be done by choosing one from the 5 settings through a single rotary control.

The automaker is expecting that Range Rover will compete well with the renowned vehicles in the segment like Audi Q7, BMW X5, Mercedes ML and Volkswagen Touareg.
